About Forest Row

Forest Row is a village in East Sussex, on the northern edge of Ashdown Forest, with the postcode RH18. This page is a short orientation, not a parish history.

The village

Most visitors first meet Forest Row along the A22 and Hartfield Road: cafes, shops, pubs and services in a compact centre. Ashdown Forest sits just to the south. Forest Way, the old railway path, runs through or close to the village and is the easy walking and cycling link toward East Grinstead and Groombridge.

The Community Centre on Hartfield Road holds parish and village activity. Forest Row Library is in the same building. Parish, council, GP, bus and rail numbers live on the community contacts page.
