Venue
Forest Row Community Centre, Hartfield Road
Forest Row has no railway station of its own. Most people arrive by bus from East Grinstead, along Forest Way, or by car on the A22. The Community Centre is on Hartfield Road. See Getting here.
About this event
On Saturday mornings at Forest Row Community Centre, people turn up with things that have packed up at home. Volunteer repairers look at electricals, fabrics, computers, bikes, woodwork, small furniture, clocks, ceramics and inflatables, and they work while you wait.
The same volunteers put on a small café. Sit down with tea or coffee and homemade cake rather than hovering over the workbench.
Mending something you already own usually costs less than buying another, and it keeps one more object out of the waste stream. That is why the morning exists.
The usual pattern is the third Saturday of each month, 10:00 to 13:00, except December. Energy Co-op drop-ins often share the same morning. Dates listed from the pattern are not a confirmed booking, so check with the organiser before you travel.
FAQ
What should I bring?
Bring the broken item and anything that belongs with it, such as the power lead, charger, or a spare button. If it is large or heavy, arrive near the start of the morning so there is room to work.
What about spare parts?
Some jobs need a part that is not on the table that day. If that happens, you would usually buy the part yourself and come back on a later morning to have it fitted. Not every make or model can be repaired.
