Forest Row grew as a forest-edge village on the road between East Grinstead and the Ashdown Forest. Holy Trinity Church, the war memorial and Forest Row Village Hall still face The Square. The village hall’s own site keeps a tinted view of that scene from about 1905.

The Forest Way follows the old East Grinstead to Tunbridge Wells railway through the village. The station closed in 1967. The path is now the easy walk east toward Hartfield and west toward East Grinstead.

Brambletye House, the ruined Jacobean mansion off the Lewes Road, sits just outside the village toward East Grinstead. It is a Historic England scheduled site, not a staffed attraction. View it from public paths only.

For a longer read, start with the village hall site, the parish council, and the Community Centre, Village Club and Forest Way walks already listed here. The buildings on The Square are the ones you can still stand in front of.
